Term 2 Week 1

Its been a long time since our last highlights package. Our seniors have settled in nicely to the new term but before we look at what has been going on this week, there are a couple of events to report on from the end of Term 1.

End of Cycle 1 for Technicraft

Check out these AMAZING creations from the Fabric and Woodwork rooms at Wainuiomata - brilliant stuff!

Celebrating Easter

The end of the term saw the start of Easter and what better way to celebrate Easter than making (and eating) hot cross buns! A big thanks to Ms Coton for making it all happening!

Term 2... We will remember them

The first week of the term saw us focus on the ANZACs remembering the huge sacrifices they made for us and our country. On Friday we helped the women of Eastbourne attach their fantastic poppies around the ANZAC Memorial before the entire school stopped to remember the incredibly sad time 100 years ago at Gallipoli.

and the winners are...

We had a great turn out of participants in the the annual RSA Essay Competition. This year the subject was retelling the events around the Gallipoli Landing. Our Muritai Senior School have taken out this competition for 3 years running and we have managed to do it again! Not just 1st but 2nd and 3rd place too! A big congratulations to:

Rachel Vass: 1st Place
Helena Cvitanovich: 2nd Place
Sophia Cave: 3rd Place

It was a very close race but Rachel's essay was a definite stand out! We are all incredibly proud of all the participates. It was a tricky project and they all rose to challenge. Well done to everyone for giving it a go! Rachel, Helena and Sophia attended morning tea at the Eastbourne RSA on Saturday to receive their prizes.
